【摘要】:Underthesevereconditionsofthistestmethod,thespecimensundergodegradationataratethatisdependentuponthethermalenduranceofthepolypropylenematerialunderexamination.Thethermallevelofthistestmethodisconsideredsufficientlyseveretocausefailureofcommercialgradesofheat-stablepolypropylenewithinareasonableperiodoftime.Ifdesired,lowertemperaturescanbeappliedtoestimatetheperformanceofpolypropylenematerialswithlowerheatstability.Thetechniqueofspecimenrotationdescribedinthistestmethodprovidesanestimateofthelife-temperaturerelationshipofpolypropylene.Ifthistestmethodisconductedatdifferenttemperaturesonthesamematerial,amorereliableestimateofthelife-temperaturerelationshipofpolypropyleneisdetermined.ThistestmethodcanbeconductedatseveraltemperaturesandthedatainterpretedthroughuseoftheArrheniusrelation,byplottingthelogarithmsoftimestofailureagainstthereciprocalsofthetemperaturesinkelvins(K).Temperaturesintherangefrom100to150x00B0;C,withintervalsof10x00B0;C,aresuggestedforthispurpose.Thestabilityasdeterminedundertheprescribedtestmethodisnotdirectlyrelatedtothesuitabilityofthecompoundforausewheredifferentconditionsprevail.Thespecimenrotationtechniqueofthermalagingincreasestheprobabilitythatallspecimenswillbeexposedsimilarlyandthattheeffectoftemperaturegradientsinanovenwillbeminimized.1.1Thistestmethodprovidesameansforestimatingtheresistanceofpolypropylene,inmoldedform,toacceleratedagingbyheatinthepresenceofairusingaforceddraftoven.1.2Thestabilitydeterminedbythistestmethodisnotdirectlyrelatedtothesuitabilityofthematerialforusewhendifferentenvironmentalconditionsprevailandshallnotbeusedtopredictperformance.Note1Thespecifiedthermallevelsinthistestmethodareconsideredsufficientlyseveretocausefailureofcommercialgradesofheat-stablepolypropylenewithinareasonableperiodoftime.Ifdesired,lowertemperaturescanbeappliedtoestimatetheperformanceofpolypropylenewithlowerheatstabilities.1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesinbracketsareforinformationonly.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Note2ThistestmethodandISO4577-1983aretechnicallysimilarbutdifferentinpreparationoftestspecimens,thicknessoftestspecimen,measurementofthenumberofairflowchangesintheovens,andthenumberofairchangesperhourrequired.1.4Thepurposeofthisappendixistoprovideasecondarymethodfordeterminingthenumberofairexchangesthatoccurwithintheforceddraftovenusedformeasurementofthermaloxidativestability.
